Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Spronet Nig Ltd ("Spronet.ng," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar tracking technologies when you access or use our Platform at www.spronet.ng and all related sub-domains (the "Service").

This Cookie Policy forms part of and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site operators.

In addition to traditional cookies, we also use:

  • Local Storage: A browser-based storage mechanism that persists data across sessions until explicitly cleared. Used for storing user preferences and draft content.
  • Session Storage: Similar to local storage but cleared automatically when the browser tab is closed. Used for temporary state during your current session.
  • Authentication Tokens: Secure, encrypted tokens managed by our authentication provider (Clerk) to verify your identity and maintain your logged-in state.

3. Cookies and Technologies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary (Essential)

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. Without them, core features like logging in, navigating between pages, and processing transactions would not work. These cookies cannot be disabled.

4. How to Manage Cookies

4.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these options in your browser's "Settings," "Preferences," or "Privacy" menu. Common actions include:

  • View cookies: See what cookies are currently stored for spronet.ng.
  • Delete cookies: Remove all or specific cookies from your browser.
  • Block cookies: Prevent specific sites or all sites from setting cookies.
  • Block third-party cookies: Allow only first-party cookies while blocking others.

Here are links to cookie management instructions for popular browsers:

4.2 Local Storage and Session Storage

Local storage and session storage can be cleared through your browser's developer tools (typically accessible via F12 → Application tab → Storage). Clearing local storage will reset your preferences (dark mode, saved locations cache, draft RFQs).

4.3 Impact of Disabling Cookies

Please note: If you disable or block essential cookies, you will not be able to log in, create sourcing requests, submit quotes, manage orders, or use most features of the Platform. Disabling functional cookies may result in a less personalised experience (e.g., your theme preference will not be remembered).

5. "Do Not Track" Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals. At this time, Spronet.ng does not respond to DNT signals. However, we do not engage in cross-site tracking of our Users for advertising purposes.

When you first visit Spronet.ng, we rely on the following consent framework:

  • Essential cookies are set without separate consent, as they are necessary for the Platform to function. Their use is based on the legal ground of contractual necessity and legitimate interest.
  • Functional cookies (preferences stored in local storage) are set based on your actions on the Platform (e.g., choosing dark mode, saving a draft). You implicitly consent to these by performing the relevant action.
  • Analytics cookies are used for aggregated, non-identifying performance monitoring. Where required by law, we will obtain your explicit consent before setting analytics cookies.

You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies and local storage as described in Section 4.

7. Data Protection

Information collected through cookies and similar technologies is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including the data protection principles and User rights set forth under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.

For details on how we handle your personal data, your rights (including access, erasure, and portability), and how to contact our Data Protection Officer, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Notify Users via email or in-app notification for significant changes affecting data collection.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
